USA Science and Engineering Festival Expo will be held mid- April, again in Washington, DC, from April 15-17. ASA, CSSA, and SSSA are joining together to create a large booth (along with 3,000 other fun, interactive exhibits, more than 100 stage shows and 33 Author Presentations). The Festival will again be held in the DC Convention Center. All of the exhibitors have been encouraged to have young, energetic, smiling faces in our booths to conduct our science activities. We’ve also been encouraged to have one scientist there as well to answer technical questions.
Each of the booths will have a fun activity and give-aways. Plus, it’s a great opportunity to show kids that science is cool!
The website for the festival is: http://www. usasciencefestival.org/
You’ll notice on the website that only April 16 and 17 are listed as festival dates. However, Friday, April 15 is “Sneak Peak” day for government agency leaders, elected leaders/staffers, and K-12 classes from the area (over 10,000 students have registered) and this is not listed on the website.
I am looking for 1-2 students at each of the timeslots, ideally with an interest in Agronomy, Crop Science or Soil Science:
Friday 9:00 - Noon
Friday Noon – 3:00
Saturday 10:00 - 2:00
Saturday 2:00 - 6:00
Sunday 10:00 – 1:00
Sunday 1:00 – 4:00
We’ll cover a train ticket or parking and will provide lunch and refreshments on each day. If we have several students from further away, I might be able to put them up overnight if they could work a few shifts (among several booths if needed). And, we’ll also give them a mention in CSA News!
They can simply respond to me with their name, day and time that they could work, and if they have a preference for Soils, Crops, or Agronomy activities (I’ll do my best to accommodate them – although sometimes we do need help in other areas).
