Terrestrial Ecologist Faculty Position
Cambridge MD
The Appalachian Laboratory (AL) of the University of Maryland Center for Environmental Science (UMCES) seeks applicants to fill an open-rank tenure-track/tenured faculty position in Terrestrial Ecology. We invite applications from individuals with research interests in areas of ecology and closely aligned disciplines that complement AL’s existing research strengths in landscape ecology, ecohydrology, biogeochemistry, and other spatial analysis of ecosystem processes. Preference will be given to candidates who demonstrate breadth of experience and vision for interdisciplinary, collaborative research that integrates across spatio-temporal scales and that improves understanding of how ecosystems are affected by current and emerging global change processes. If a successful applicant has also demonstrated outstanding experience in the theory and practice of restoration of ecosystem services in human-impacted watersheds at local and regional scales, this position may be considered for a new UMCES endowed chair in Sustainable Ecosystem Restoration.
To Apply:
Applicants should send the following electronically: (1) a curriculum vitae; (2) statement of research interests and a brief discussion of how their research aligns with the job description and would complement ongoing research at AL; (3) statement on experience with and approach to graduate-level teaching and mentorship; (4) up to five selected reprints and preprints; and (5) names of four references (including title, mailing address, telephone, and e-mail address) to PIsearch@al.umces.edu. Review of applications will begin on April 25, and will continue until the position is filled. Inquiries may be addressed to the AL Director, Dr. Eric A. Davidson: edavidson@al.umces.edu or Search Committee Chair, Dr. Matt Fitzpatrick: mfitzpatrick@al.umces.edu. UMCES is an equal opportunity employer. Women, minorities, individuals with disabilities and veterans are encouraged to apply.
