Our Beltsville, MD office has an exciting opportunity for a Water Resources Specialist with 3-5 years of experience to join and support our Water Resources group! This is an exciting opportunity to work in a growth-oriented professional consulting office!

Job Expectations:
In this role you will provide task management and client service interaction on a variety of stormwater, LID retrofit design, and stream restoration or projects. Work may include planning, designing, regulatory compliance and permitting on current and future projects in Maryland, Virginia and across the Mid-Atlantic Area. Tasks will include providing engineering or scientific support for field investigations, feasibility studies, design documentation and construction inspection phases of projects including report writing and field data collection.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Participate in field work, site visits, and data collection in a variety of areas and weather conditions
  • Provide technical guidance and direction to engineering design teams and oversight of the work of clients and sub consultants. Review and approve work performed.
  • Serve as task manager and provide technical assistance on several stream restoration or stormwater retrofit projects simultaneously
  • Provide MS4 and other regulatory compliance, permit support and coordination with multiple agencies
  • Coordinate all aspects of stormwater and/or stream restoration projects including landscaping, natural resources, civil design, utilities and community interaction
  • Stormwater planning, condition assessment, detailed design and construction administration
  • Preparation of engineering reports, technical memorandums and specifications
  • Review shop drawings
  • Research literature and develop solutions to complex scientific problems
  • Frequent work in satellite office location (Rockville, MD) and occasional travel


Desired Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor´s degree in water resources, civil or environmental engineering, geomorphology, landscape architecture or related field
  • Three to five years of experience planning and designing stormwater BMP, low impact development or stream restoration projects.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
  • Working knowledge of spreadsheet software and detailed knowledge of CADD programs, TR20 and TR-55, HEC-RAS, and/or GIS-based H&H analysis tools.
  • Watershed assessment and restoration planning
  • Ability to work effectively in a diverse team environment
  • Must be able to successfully manage and deliver on multiple tasks with competing priorities
  • Rosgen training desired
