Financial Programs Associate / AG Credit Underwriter - MARBIDCO

Qualified candidates are sought for a full-time financial programs credit underwriting and loan
servicing position with a quasi-public (nonprofit) organization providing financial and business
development assistance to agricultural and resource-based businesses in Maryland. The
incumbent coordinates loan and grant transactions, reviews applicant business plans and
financial statements, performs credit underwriting analyses, interfaces with development
agencies and lending institutions (including commercial banks, Farm Credit and USDA),
prepares written reports of program activities, assists agricultural/forestry/seafood industry
clients and the general public, undertakes special projects, and provides other staff support in a
small busy office.
Qualified candidates will have a substantial academic background and/or personal experience in
production farming or forestry, or in the seafood business. A background in small business
management or commercial lending would be a plus. Candidates should be well organized, self-
motivated and able to work independently. Applicants must also possess excellent interpersonal,
analytical, written, and oral communication skills; a good work ethic; and an aptitude for detail.
The candidate must be able to manage several projects simultaneously, occasionally work
flexible hours and travel around the State of Maryland by personal automobile.
Candidates must possess either: 1) a bachelor’s degree in agricultural science, agribusiness
management, finance, or agricultural and resource economics (or similar major); OR, 2) a
master’s degree in accounting, agriculture, business administration, finance, economics (or a
similar field of study). Candidates must also have experience with Microsoft Office software and
be proficient using spreadsheet software. Review of applications will begin on April 30, 2018.

STARTING SALARY: $40,000 to $47,000 (with a Bachelor’s Degree)
$47,000 to $57,000 (with a Master’s Degree)
(Depending upon experience and qualifications; fringe benefits
include vacation and medical leave, retirement contribution, etc.)
