Deep Creek Lavender Farm Internship

Deep Creek Lavender Farm is a small farm located in Accident, Maryland just a few miles from Deep Creek Lake.  Focusing on agrotourism, Deep Creek Lavender Farm is open weekends and Mondays through the summer and has nearly 1500 lavender plantsvegetable gardens, sunflowers, chickens, bees, composting, mushrooms, and more for visitors to see and learn.
This year’s focus, in addition to the lavender will be installation of solar panels, solar cooking, and increasing the size of the vegetable garden.  The farm also has a farm store focusing on lavender based products, classes and events focused on lavender, garden tours and more.
We are close to Deep Creek Lake for boating, swimming, fishing.  In addition the county is filled with great hiking, mountain biking, kayaking and other outdoor activities.  The towns of Accident, Friendsville and McHenry have a great local foods vibe with Moon Shadow Café, Firefly Farms, Harvest Moon Organic Market.  In addition the farm is 40 minutes from Morgantown, WV the home of West Virginia University.
The intern will work 25-40 hours per week with two weekdays off per week.  The intern will have a separate small apartment at a neighboring farm within walking distance (no charge to intern).  Fresh eggs and produce from the vegetable garden will be provided as well.   A monthly stipend of $600 will be paid (or prorated if only a portion of the month is worked). The internship will run from Mid-May through mid-August or other agreed to dates.
We hope to learn as much from our intern about farming, agriculture, sustainability, etc. , as we teach about lavender, agrotourism, business management, networking, marketing and more.
