Job Description:
Caves Valley Golf Club is looking for a Horticulturist to manage the day to day operations of the horticulture team. The candidate will report directly to the Golf Course Superintendent and Assistant Superintendents. The horticulture team maintains golf course facilities grounds, which include clubhouse complex, seven cottages, learning center, main entrance, parking lots, golf course beds, halfway house, and storage facility. Other responsibilities include common areas, twenty-nine residential homes, and an organic farm located on a ten-acre property.
The Horticulturists main responsibilities include:
- Daily scheduling and organizing of 18-20 member crew
- Develop and oversee annual landscape budget
- Prepare monthly invoices for customers
- Purchase plant material for golf course and residential homes
- Provide technical, operational, and safety training for employees to ensure that staff is working within OSHA, club safety, state and federal guidelines for safe working conditions.
- Implement and monitor pest control and fertilization practices
- Oversee residential irrigation systems
- Design and install new landscape beds and trees on golf course
- Assist the Architectural Committee to approve and review landscape blue prints in new and existing residential homes.
- Coordinates snow removal of clubhouse, cottages, main roads, and residential community.
- Environmental monitoring including monthly well depth readings, customer relations, distribution of reports and meetings with environmental groups.
Course Description:
Caves Valley Golf Club is an 18 hole, private golf only facility located 15 miles northwest of Baltimore, Maryland. The Tom Fazio design has been consistently ranked as one of the top courses in the state of Maryland and the Mid-Atlantic region. Since its opening in 1991, Caves Valley Golf Club has hosted several events, including the 1995 US Mid Am, the 2002 US Senior Open, and the 2017 Constellation Senior Players Championship.
