Job Description:
The Outreach Educator is primarily responsible for providing off-site nature education programs to 1st grade students throughout the state of Utah. This is a full-time position.
Responsibilities Include:
- Provide environmental education programming to first grade students throughout the state of Utah
- Transport materials and animals for programming using company vehicle
- Assist with on-site education programs as assigned, including school programs, preschool programs, summer camps and community programs
- Help train education animals for educational presentations
- Assist in maintaining accurate records of education programs, materials, travel expenses and mileage reports
- Participate in events and fundraisers
- Assist with PR opportunities, including booths at community events
- Other tasks as assigned
Qualifications:
- An undergraduate degree or higher in environmental education, wildlife biology, education, or related field preferred.
- Prior handling of small reptiles and experience in informal education is highly desirable.
- Must be able to hold and move birds of prey, snakes and other wildlife safely.
- Must be able to lift 25 pounds, walk up to one mile on uneven terrain in all weather conditions, and speak to large groups.
- Enjoys working with people of all ages and has excellent interpersonal skills
- Must be articulate, with good writing skills
- Highly organized
- Computer proficient (Word, Excel, email)
- Love working and being outdoors

Requirements:
- Must be able to work occasional evenings and Saturdays
- Must be a US citizenship or be a lawful permanent resident
- Must have a valid driver’s license and good driving record
- Must be able to perform strenuous outdoor work under all weather conditions
- Must pass a background check
