Outreach Coordinator - Ogden Nature Center

Location:  Ogden, Utah

Job Description:
The Outreach Educator is primarily responsible for coordinating, scheduling and reporting on all off-site nature education programs.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Work with an outreach team to provide programming to all first grade students in the state of Utah
  • Keep thorough and accurate report on the number of students, classrooms, schools and districts served
  • Contact schools, arrange program schedule and maintain an updated calendar for the 1st grade outreach program
  • Field phone calls and emails regarding all Ogden Nature Center outreach programs
  • Transport materials and animals for programming using the company vehicle
  • Assist with on-site education programs as assigned, including school programs, preschool programs, summer camps and community programs
  • Help train education animals for educational presentations
  • Work with the Education Director to compile evaluations and data for outreach program improvements
  • Maintain accurate records of education programs, materials, travel expenses and mileage reports
  • Participate in events and fundraisers
  • Assist with PR opportunities, including booths at community events
  • Other tasks as assigned

Qualifications:
  • An undergraduate degree or higher in environmental education, wildlife biology, education, or related field preferred 
  • Prior handling of small reptiles and experience in informal education is highly desirable 
  • Must be able to hold and move birds of prey, snakes and other wildlife safely 
  • Must be able to lift 25 pounds, walk up to one mile on uneven terrain in all weather conditions, and speak to large groups  
  • Enjoys working with people of all ages and has excellent interpersonal skills
  • Must be articulate, with good writing skills
  • Highly organized
  • Computer proficient (Word, Excel, email)
  • Love working and being outdoors

Requirements:
  • Must be able to work occasional evenings and Saturdays
  • Must be a US citizenship or be a lawful permanent resident
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and good driving record
  • Must be able to perform strenuous outdoor work under all weather conditions
  • Must pass a background check
