Spring 2018 Leadership Development Opportunities for Students



Through the Maryland Leadership Education and Development (LEAD) Program, students can discover their potential, develop their abilities to practice socially responsible leadership, and dive into a community of change makers.

Encourage students to join us for our upcoming programs this semester! All opportunities are open to all students. Most programs are free and have registration open now!


MOSAIC is a weekend retreat exploring the relationship between identity and leadership. Students of all backgrounds and experience levels will engage in small and large group simulations and dialogues. $25 fee that can be sponsored by campus offices. Registration open!
Date: Saturday-Sunday, Feb. 24-25, overnight
Location: National 4-H Conference Center, Chevy Chase, MD


TLI -Intro is designed for beginning leaders and students who hope to be a leader on campus, in your career field, and in your community.  Over five weeks, you’ll participate in hands-on activities and critical dialogue with a small group of peers around topics such as: leadership styles, ethics, identity, collaboration, and communication. Date: Once a week from Feb. 27th - Apr. 3rd


TLI -Plus is designed for experienced leaders in current campus/community leadership roles or who have participated in previous MLEAD programs.  Over five weeks, you’ll participate in hands-on activities and critical dialogue with a small group of peers around topics such as: authority and power, conflict management, personal and group responsibility, and organizational sustainability. Date: Once a week from Feb. 27th - Apr. 3rd


TLI -Student Organizations is designed for leaders of registered student organizations. Over five weeks, you’ll participate in hands-on activities and critical dialogue while networking with other student organization leaders. The program will allow you to assess organizational strengths and improvements in addition to building tools to enhance the dynamics, structure, mission, and decision-making of your group. Date: Once a week from Feb. 27th - Apr. 3rd

Advance is a one-day program for experienced leaders in current leadership roles or who have participated in previous programs. Topics include myths and temptations in leadership and understanding change. Registration open now!

Location: Stamp Student Union

Activation Academy is a one-day program for juniors/seniors with prior community engagement, service, or activism experiences. Focusing sustaining active citizenship after graduation, participants will create action plans and engage with a panel of 'activated alumni'. Registration opens March 7th.
