The Sustainable Investing Initiative within WRI’s Sustainable Finance Center is seeking an intern who will play an integral role in conducting research and providing project support for the Center’s work on sustainable investing. We are seeking someone with strong research, analytical, and writing skills to contribute to current projects focused on advancing sustainable investing practices in the mainstream investor marketplace. The intern will support efforts to improve the quality, accessibility, and relevance of environmental and social data for investor decision-making.
The intern will work closely with members of the Sustainable Finance Center to conduct research and analysis and contribute to knowledge products. The intern will also learn about fundraising and convening activities by assisting in the development of concept notes and presentations. Throughout the course of the internship, the intern will have the opportunity to attend meetings and liaise with colleagues across WRI, as well as asset managers, asset owners, and investment consultants.
WRI’s Sustainable Finance Center focuses on shifting public and private capital toward activities that support low carbon and climate-resilient development and away from those that harm people and the environment. We engage governments, development finance institutions, private sector actors, and civil society to achieve our vision. We organize our work around five major themes:
• Enabling implementation of Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) • Promoting sustainable finance among key financial-market players • Strengthening public financial institutions • Encouraging the United States and China to be sustainable finance champions • Strengthening resilience and adaptation finance.

Responsibilities
The intern will gain experience in the following areas:
• Conducting primary and secondary research and literature reviews • Conducting qualitative and quantitative analysis • Contributing to blogs • Developing presentations and other outreach materials • Providing general administrative support (less than 10% 0f time) • Liaising with other WRI programs/centers/international offices
Qualifications
Degree: Currently pursuing (senior in college only) or completed Bachelor's degree in finance, economics, environmental science, international development, or similar. Master's degree (or current student) preferred.
• A successful candidate will demonstrate excellent qualitative and/or quantitative research and writing skills • Candidates with knowledge of climate and/or economic modelling would be strongly preferred • Applicants should possess a high degree of professionalism and have a strong attention to detail • Excellent computer skills in Microsoft Office and internet research • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work with teams of individuals and colleagues • Highly responsible, self-motivated, and flexible • Basic knowledge of sustainable investing, corporate social responsibility, or private sector finance would be an asset.
WRI does not sponsor interns for visas of any kind. Must have authorization to work in the U.S. to be eligible for this position.

Salary: This is a paid intern position with an hourly rate based on experience.
