The Center for Green Schools at the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) believes that all students should have the opportunity to attend schools that sustain the world they live in, enhance their health and well-being, and prepare them for 21st century careers. Our educational resources, professional learning networks, and industry-recognized tools bring sustainability to life in the classroom and encourage communities to work together toward a future that is healthier for people and the planet.
Duties:
- The intern will provide support for the project described below and as-needed support to additional, high-priority team projects throughout the fall. The position requires entrepreneurship and active communication, and successful candidates will be able to work well both independently and in teams.
- This is a part-time, unpaid position for 14-17 weeks, at a minimum of 8 hours per week.
- The School Sustainability Performance Intern will focus on the development of resources related to LEED certification and the Arc sustainability tracking and benchmarking platform
- Update LEED Operations and Maintenance resources for school audiences to reflect rating system changes, including the How to Green Existing Schools web training module, the Green Existing Schools Workbook and the Green Existing Schools Project Management Guide.
- Support Arc users in schools by developing educational videos, case studies, and program guidance documents.
- Propose and develop an onboarding process for all schools registering in the Arc platform
- Assist in the Schools as a Teaching Tools program where needed. The Schools as Teaching Tools program brings together teachers, school facilities staff, and green building professionals to improve school building performance while using the building as a teaching tool for students.
- Develop a series of short social media posts to advertise and get the word out about the Center for Green Schools’ resources.
