Entry Level Environmental Scientist- AECOM

Location: Chantilly, VA

Description: The Air Quality Compliance Team in the Chantilly, Virginia office is seeking an entry-level Environmental Scientist for immediate employment. We are looking for someone who is interested in a starting a career in the air compliance field at the No. 1 air quality and environmental consulting company (per Engineering News Record, 2018) that provides the opportunity for growth, training, and a wealth of technical support and guidance.

Duties:

  • Collection of monthly recordkeeping data, calculation of air emissions, review of air quality regulations and applicability assessments
  • Assistance with monthly and quarterly compliance audits, preparation/organization of regulatory reports for submittal to federal and state agencies, and preparation of air quality permits.
  • Independently perform most assignments with instructions as to the general results expected, except for complex and unusual situations in which case he/she must be proactive and ask questions of supervisory staff for guidance/support.
  • Effectively communicate with team members and clients and be able to juggle multiple assignments simultaneously.
  • Professionally present themselves as a positive face of the company to current and potential clients comfortable interacting with clients, understanding their needs, and conversing with regulators on their behalf.
  • Support other environmental compliance and investigation areas including (e.g., hazardous and solid waste, radon, asbestos, Emergency Planning and Community Right to Know Act, storm water, and multimedia sampling).
Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in relevant scientific discipline (e.g., environmental science, soil science, agriculture, geology or any scientific-related field)
  • Proficient with word processing and spreadsheet programs
  • Must be able to juggle multiple assignments simultaneously
  • Valid Driver’s License

Preferred Qualities:
  • Experience in performing air emissions calculations
  • Familiarity with air permitting applicability and preparation of applications
  • Good verbal and written skills
  • Knowledgeable of various NSPS and NESHAP regulations as well as Title V, ODS, and regional state regulatory programs
  • Experience working with regulators to ensure fair and favorable permits are issued
