Sustainable Transport Internship - The Cadmus Group

The Cadmus Group LLC. is seeking an intern to join the Sustainable Transportation Practice. The Sustainable Transportation Practice supports Cadmus’s clients in streamlining and increasing the efficiency of transportation practices and programs through methods that reduce harmful emissions, save energy, and minimize waste. Our sustainable transportation solutions help reduce fuel dependence and greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, protect critical assets, increase safety, and support healthy communities and habitats, while also managing costs across the life cycle.

We are looking for a motivated and creative professional interested in a hands-on introduction to sustainable transportation consulting.

Timing and Compensation:

Start and end dates are flexible but we expect the selected intern to work for approximately twelve weeks over the summer. An hourly rate stipend will be offered depending on the experience and qualifications of the applicant.

Responsibilities:

The selected intern will assist with both project delivery and proposal preparation. Potential projects include support to airport sustainability planning, alternative fuels analysis, research and analysis, survey design, electric vehicle policy research, workshop coordination, and transportation-related marketing and outreach. Potential support activities include foundational research, literature review, data entry, data analysis, interviewing subject matter experts, synthesizing information, creative layout/design, word processing, technical editing, document formatting, meeting planning, and note taking.

Requirements:

  • Enrollment in an undergraduate degree program focused in any of these areas: transportation, urban planning, engineering, economics or other quantitative social science, public policy, environmental studies, or earth science.
  • Experience interpreting and analyzing data.
  • Experience developing clearly written, concise reports on technical subject matter.
  • Excellent writing, communication, and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, including setting priorities and adapting to changes in a time-sensitive, deliverable driven workplace.
  • Strong organizational, detail-oriented skills.
  • Initiative and ability to self-direct on assignments.
  • Intermediate to advanced skills in MS Office applications, including Word and Excel.

The selected intern will work in the Cadmus Bethesda office.
