Internship Opportunity: “Cool” UMD Startup

Internship Opportunity: “Cool” UMD Startup
A startup out of Professor Radermacher’s lab in the Mechanical Engineering department in the Clark School of Engineering seeks student interns for the following projects related to a personal “space cooler” (like a space heater but for cooling).
Engineering build – Interns wanted to help build beta prototypes of a small air conditioning system. This state of the art technology is slated to be displayed in showrooms at major manufacturing firms and demonstrated at major trade shows and the consumer electronics show. Help is needed to fabricate, assemble, and test beta units.
Engineering re-design – Intern(s) needed to redesign a prototype of a small air conditioning system. The system needs to be reengineered into a device that can be manufactured at scale. In addition, the candidate will help source components that are readily available and will reduce manufacturing costs.
Business marketing / branding – intern wanted to help design and implement a marketing and branding strategy for a personal air conditioning system that was created at the Clark School. This is a relatively straight forward user base with a brand new solution. You will help create and propagate marketing messages and bring product awareness to the marketplace.
Business web design – A startup company that has been created to commercialize a new air condition system that was invented at the Clark School is looking for an intern to help design and build a website. Once the website is built and put up, it will need to be optimized.
Business Social media – We are looking for someone help us become a household name. A new air conditioning system invented at the Clark School is going on the market. We need help building product awareness and getting people excited about our new technology.

Students would receive course credit. Interested students should contact toddstave@gmail.com or Brooke Smith (bsmith11@umd.edu) at the Academy for Innovation & Entrepreneurship.
