Regional Food & Agriculture Intern - Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments

Fall 2018 and Winter 2019
The Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments (COG), an independent, nonprofit association that brings area leaders together to develop solutions to the region’s major challenges, has an internship opportunity assisting with food and agriculture-related initiatives in Metropolitan Washington region. The ideal candidate is a work-study student, interested in working with COG staff in a new Regional Food Systems Value Chain Coordination Program.


The intern will assist in the refinement and implementation of new agricultural program initiatives, including research, program material development, and outreach for a new employee incentive program to connect interested staff across the region with local farmers and healthy food. The intern will also provide research, analytical, and some administrative support to COG’s Local Food Distribution Working Group and Regional Agricultural Working Group. As part of the internship, the student will meet a wide range of food and agricultural stakeholders in the region, including local business and nonprofit leaders, and local, state, and federal government staff.


More information about learning objectives of the internship, as well as specific job duties and desired skills, is available upon request. An ability to work between 12 to 16 hours per week during the academic year is desired, along with a one year commitment
