International Coastal Cleanup Intern - Ocean Conservancy

Location:  Washington DC

Description:
Applicants should have an interest in environmental science and conservation; outreach and education; as well as volunteerism and event planning. The majority of this role will involve assisting in the design, planning, outreach and implementation of the International Coastal Cleanup event in Washington, DC hosted by Ocean Conservancy. Additionally this intern will provide general ICC and ocean trash education support.

Duties:

  • Outreach to volunteers and volunteer coordinators,
  • Event planning and logistics,
  • Researching new avenues for public outreach,
  • Handling incoming email,
  • Entering beach cleanup data, and
  • Other projects as assigned.
Qualifications:
The successful candidate will be hardworking and proactive, organized, and comfortable making cold calls and emails. This internship provides an opportunity to work with a dynamic team of professionals on an important part of the solution for trash free seas. The intern will be exposed to the variety of responsibilities E-NGO staff members take on. They will have the opportunity to take initiative and leadership through ICC event planning, coordinating communication, and public outreach. They will also learn about data compilation and analysis while assisting in the ICC data entry and reporting processes.
